False Idols

Pastor Chuck recently did an amazing series called “No Other Name”- potential idols in our life. It has been amazing! He talked about “The Tyranny of Emotions”. Did it feel like he was unintentionally targeting on us women? LOL! It hit home with me for sure. While I was sitting in Church listening, I started thinking about other areas that seem to be an idols for us women, and immediately this one came up: Our bodies. I have been on a long journey with this, too long and too many years to type out here, and I know other ladies have too. The topic of our body seems to be on the forefront of almost every female mind. Any woman I talk to, the conversation seems to steer to eating, exercising, clothes, what plan are we using, what pills we’re taking.etc. etc. etc…you get the picture. I’ve heard it, and I’ve chimed right in. I have counted calories for years, and dreaded getting on that awful scale. I totally understand. Then one day, God spoke to me. He asked me why I focused/fixated on something He never intended me too. I had put something else in the front. On the reigns. Making the decisions. Intentionally? No. I love Jesus. But He was not Lord over food or my body. Then I heard this: You’re worshiping whatever you’re fixated on. Yep. Kind of harsh. But hear me out.
